My Salon Scoop wants to revolutionalize the hair salon experienceOur Mission: To become the most trusted resource for savvy women as they choose new hair salons. To empower women to take more control of their hair salon experiences by providing access to valuable information to guide them on their hair journeys
My Salon Scoop is the ultimate beauty matchmaker for women of color. Through MySalonScoop.com, My Salon Scoop creates a virtual hair salon environment that connects hairstylists to clients and consumers to advertisers. Launched in April 2009, My Salon Scoop was born out of the collective frustration of the founder, V. Woods, and her friends about the trial-and-error process of finding a new hairstylist.
After exhausting her own list of women to ask the basic questions, “where does she get her hair done…and is she happy there,” Woods thought there had to be a better way. The main objective of the site is to facilitate the information exchange typically only shared among small groups of friends about their hair salon experiences across an online community.
My Salon Scoop encourages regular salon goers to share their experiences through a unique constructive salon review. After surveying more than 100 women, Woods learned many women often rely on the honest feedback of girlfriends over the “experts” before visiting a salon. Community members, known as hair-nistas, can review all the salons they visit from their first visit to their 100th visit. Hair-nistas rate each salon on a number of criteria ranging from customer service to the skill of the stylists to demystify the hair salon experience for others.
Along with salon reviews, My Salon Scoop unleashes a new voice to explore women’s obsession with hair behind the backdrop of the hair salon. The online magazine has featured interviews with celebrity stylists, such as Diane Da Costa and Rukey Styles. Through a bit of sass and a healthy dose of humor, My Salon Scoop provides tips through stories that chronicle the lives of women through every phase — from the student who is just beginning to make her own hair decisions, to the mother who is making hair decisions for others for the first time. My Salon Scoop reviews the new trends in hair-care and salon-service offerings available across the country.
In addition at My Salon Scoop, hair-nistas can participate in discussions on salon etiquette, take polls on salon chair topics, ask stylists questions, and share their own salon drama stories. MySalonScoop.com is owned and operated by My Salon Scoop, LLC.About the Founder V.
