Stay fly while traveling

LOS ANGELES — Women on the go have no time for their hair to fall flat. Here's what a local stylist and one busy woman recommend for staying diva ready in-between travel and salon visits.
"Always be prepared to wrap or pin curl your hair," said Tiffany Stallworth from 2 Dreams Hair Salon in the Mid-Wilshire area. "Have a shine spray, a moisturizing crème or oil, and maybe a light hairspray."
The career woman of LA has multiple jobs and very little time to deal with bad hair days. Singer/actress and single mother, "Jazzy" Rita Shelby said the best style recommendation for her was to convert to a full weave. "I must say I was very reluctant to have a full weave because I didn't see many weaves that were natural looking."
But to Shelby's surprise she found a weave that looks as natural as her own hair. "After getting my first hair weave ...I'm so happy that I did it because from how I look, you can't tell (it's a weave) at all."
As for maintenance, Shelby said she primps her weave just like she would her natural hair. "I wrap half of it. I start from where my part is and then I wrap it to the back and pin that, and I take the rest of it and wrap it the other way," she said, admitting that the only additional primping she has to do to her weave is to bump a curl or two.
Flight Time

Now when it's time to catch a flight, we all know there are limits on the quantities of liquids you are able to bring on board. The Transportation Security Administration Web site states the following as carry-on standards:
*All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in 3-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be 3 ounces or smaller.
*All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.
So unfortunately if you can't convert your products into the required storage containers or baggies, don't pack them as a carry-on item or you'll be kissing your precious products goodbye.
Speaking of products, Stallworth recommends "Design Essentials." She said the products are great for managing hair, plus the products are sold in the portions needed for travel.
"Most products... come in the low ounces, and (if they don't) you can always transfer your product into containers," she said. Three-ounce containers can be purchased at your local drugstores in the cosmetics aisle.
Three main tips that she recommends for the traveling woman: Choose your hairstyle based on the climate of your destination, only bring the products you need to maintain your hair to get to your destination, and always stay diva ready.
