Rich colors, curls add sophisticationBy Ricki Jae Morris, My Salon Scoop writerLOS ANGELES — It's time for some holiday cheer, and that calls for holiday hair. A couple of Los Angeles stylists dish the styles gracing the red carpets of Hollywood. This season it's all about warm hues and touchable curls.

If you caught a glimpse at this year's Video Music Awards, Alicia Keys was wearing a very elegant goddess braid, which Chatman said a lot of her clients are requesting. "I've had a few of my girls in the industry...(want) the old school, big goddess braid," Chatman shared. " It's coming back, but it's just more simple. Some people do it with the (pompadour bump); some people leave hair out in the front. But it looks more sophisticated with all the hair back." In addition to hairstyles, hair color also spices up the red carpet. Stylist Veronica Thomas of Hair On The Move and Ms. Tonya's of Hollywood said for the winter a lot of their celebrity clients are warming up their hair hues. "I'm noticing a lot of color, a lot of reds. I'm noticing a lot of ashes and a lot of coppers," she said. "Those are colors that usually are just outstanding for fall and winter because they actually depict the colors of the leaves." Auburn and reddish violet hair colors are also popular, added Thomas, who also believes the darker colors look richer in the winter season.
