Bradley encourages stylists to push wow factor for clientsBy Sherrell Dorsey, My Salon Scoop writerHeat up your fall with spicy cutting-edge styles that add flavor and flair for a "done-and-over-with" look.
Master stylist, makeup artist and educator Patric Bradley says this means trendy bobs of all lengths including the celebrity-inspired short cuts like Nia Long and of course the bold look of celebrity "it girl" Rihanna.
"Rihanna always stays on the cutting edge with her over-exaggerated Mohawk and color," says the renowned beauty expert, educator and master stylist at Bradcon International Hair Studio in Norfolk, Va. and True Perfection in Houston, Texas.
Bradley says a great cut incorporates nice color placement and technique. For edgy razor cuts and styles he suggests using a smooth combination of triangles and rectangles. He favors adding heavy bangs in addition to paneling with color throughout seen here with the woman rocking a honey-blond bob.
"Every stylist is an artist," he says. "As an artist we have to tap into our own creativity and craft uniqueness in the designs we create for our clients."
For clients a little hesitant to make the cut commitment, Bradley recommends adding a splash of color, which gives any hairstyle dimension allowing a dull look to spring with life.

"Singer Mary J. Blige's cut and color always accents everything that she does," he says as an example of the power a strong cut and beautiful color has on the total look of a woman.
Bradley has been creating the most sought-after styles for the last 16 years. His trendsetting haircuts and color combinations have stylists and clients alike all over the world craving to learn how to create masterpieces that can turn a simple ‘do into "wow-factor" style makeovers.
His bold styles have been featured by BIA, Salon Choice, Dudley Products and Farouk Systems.
"Every stylist has to be able to create a style for (his/her) client's particular face shape," he says.
Bradley advises that oval shapes, similar to those of Halle Berry and Nia Long, can wear a variety of cuts that are long, short, or medium. Round face shapes need cuts that are closer to the face to make the face appear sleeker. And for pear shapes, like Rihanna, Bradley likes to create cuts that hug the face, bring in the jaw line and add bangs to take attention away from the forehead.

Known for taking cuts to the next level, in 2007 Bradley decided to take his knowledge on the road by creating Team Hollywood-a consortium of 55 talented educators and assistants spanning across more than 12 states including California, New York, Texas and Florida. Bradley's cutting techniques are so highly in demand that he developed a two-day "boot-camp" for stylists.
Keeping your scissors on the pulse of the "new" is what spurs Bradley to stay on top of his game. He says he keeps abreast of the latest cuts by developing his artistry and challenging himself to push his creativity and innovation to the next level. "I was blessed with a God-given talent that enables me to be innovative and imaginative. I'm looking to set the bar for other artists and stylists."
For stylists and students looking to train with Bradley, register for his upcoming boot camp seminar in October in Las Vegas or his hands-on seminars in Norfolk in September.
