Stylist offers hungry client a biteSkipping meals to make a much-needed hair appointment is never a good idea. Often when the hunger tug of war wages during a styling session, a good stylist is sensitive to the possible internal struggle.
Corrine had just enough time to check on her daughter at the babysitter before dashing off to her much needed appointment. In her rush to arrive at the salon on time, Corrine skipped her window to grab a decent meal.
An hour into the appointment, Corrine regretted that hasty decision; and after 20 minutes under the dryer, hunger overrode her senses causing the words on the page of her novel to blur. Corrine closed her book and her eyes. Soon, visions of her favorite dishes danced in her head. "Salmon smothered in poppy seed marinade, Cornish hen with rosemary and lemon peel, deep-fried turkey legs, jerk chicken spinach salad with cornbread..."
Mary, Corrine's stylist, was not aware of her client's internal struggle with hunger. Since Corrine was Mary's last client of the day, she planned to dig into her dinner while Corrine sat under the dryer.
"Whew, what a long day," Mary said to herself while she heated up her leftover chicken parmigiana. Since the salon did not have a secluded break room, Mary took her plate back to her station to eat.
Corrine smelled the savory scents of a real meal. Her eyes fluttered open revealing the steamy hot dish that Mary was devouring. Corrine salivated after each bite Mary took.
Mary noticed Corrine staring. "Maybe the dryer is too hot," Mary thought, mouthing to Corrine, "Too hot?" Corrine shook her head no giving a weak smile.
Mary went back to her meal, and Corrine mentally went back with her. After each succulent morsel, Corrine wondered whether the dish came from her favorite Italian restaurant, Angelo's, around the corner. She didn't see the pasta on the side. "Did she save any of the bread?" she speculated. "It always tastes better with that sour dough bread, even on the second day."
Suddenly, Mary felt Corrine's intense gaze. Mary put her fork down and walked over to her client. "Are you hungry?" asked Mary with one hand on her hip and the Tupperware container in the other.
"Um, a little bit," Corrine could have ripped that container out of Mary's hand, but she wanted to keep some semblance of dignity.
"I apologize for throwing down right in front of you," Mary said. "I know it's a little late, but I can run to the store down the street and grab you some chips or something."
"That would be great because I didn't get a chance to grab anything on the way here," Corrine shared.
"I will be back in about 10 minutes," Mary said putting on her coat.
Before she exited, Mary asked, "Were you eating leftovers from Angelo's?"
"Yes, it was from Angelo's," Mary continued. "We can call in an order from there that can be ready by the time you leave."

My salon is called Pamper me Silly. It's own by a young afro-amercian lady who happens to be my cousin. Malaika Guest. Her salon is the best in philly. she not only do good hair but she's care about your hair. It's a nice and very spiritual lead salon. Not a lot of gossip going on. She pampers her customers and do whats best you and your hair. She also hosts a girls night out in the salon. When women can come and chat and chew and discuss their issues you might be having. She's located 332 W. Mt. Pleasant Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19119. She's been doing my hair since she was twelve. She's very good at what she does. That's my scoop on my salon I attend. God Bless!!!!
